Māori Role Models by Te Aorangi Harrington

Inspirational profiles of success

Maori Role ModelsInspirational kōrero from inspirational Māori,“ the ten profiles presented in this book are indeed inspirational. Here is information about five Māori men and five women who have made their mark in a wide rage of fields. Whether as an author, artist, politician, educator or sport’s person each reveals the passion and determination they have brought to their life’s work.

The format of the book is simple yet effective. A series of questions are presented to each person represented in its pages. The questions posed to them vary slightly but each person interviewed illustrates effectively the importance they place in self- belief, cultural knowledge, formal education and family support. Images of each role model are included.

This is a most useful book as it is presented back to back in both Te Reo and English. It is invaluable as a resource for a wide range of students but particularly for those in upper primary, intermediate and junior secondary classes.
