Audience:

This is an introductory online course for:  

  • new secondary school library staff
  • new members of the library management team

School level: secondary

Learning objectives

This course will enable you to:

  • build a broader understanding of your role and its scope in a secondary school library
  • develop your library collection and services based on understanding your school community, your school's strategic priorities, and  approaches used to support learners
  • play an active role in supporting a robust school-wide reading culture
  • locate information to support you in your role.

Course activities include:

  • practical activities and tasks, some requiring consultation within your school
  • opportunities to assess library practices within your own school
  • participating in a collaborative, problem-solving e-workshop related to the role of the library supporting reading in a secondary school
  • personal reflection on your learning
  • opportunities to share and contribute, working in a Moodle environment, supported throughout by an e-facilitator.
