We want to help create motivated and engaged young readers. This blog is about children's and YA literature (especially New Zealand), literacy research, and ways to get, and keep, kids reading.
The Warburton community have a story they want to tell you. It’s about a magic man who gets greedy and uses his power to hurt his people - but when he’s been taught a lesson, he turns into the sunbird and eventually helps his people.
They also want to tell you a bit about themselves and their Ngaanyatjarra country, and what this story means to them. They hope you’ll learn quite a lot about their special culture. So pick up this book and see what you think - if you like it, there are others in this excellent “Sharing our stories” series too.
