School Library Staff Performance Appraisal

To guide the performance management and development processes for school library staff, we offer a template to assist both the library staff member and the member of the school senior staff who conducts the appraisal.

Sometimes the person undertaking this important process has little knowledge of the scope and responsibilities within library roles. It helps if you have a written job description, and also keep written records of your successful collaborations, achievements, objectives accomplished, commendations, and professional development undertaken.

An initial meeting between appraiser and library staff member held early in the year will allow you to:

  • Set objectives that align with school annual targets
  • Agree on performance measures.
  • Identify any support, training or resources required to meet objectives
  • Agree on a date later in the year for the review meeting

You may use the attached template unaltered, or adapt it to meet the needs of the performance appraisal process in your school.
