Tools and Guides

The range of guides, worked examples and templates offered here have been rewritten and updated.  They provide a range of practical tools to help school library teams throughout New Zealand manage your school library and develop your library collection.

You will find worked examples and blank templates attached in Word and PDF formats, at the end of relevant guides. The guides can also be downloaded in either format.

These tools can be grouped into the following broad areas: 

  • Managing your school library

  • Providing access to information:  your integrated library system (ILS) - sometimes referred to in schools as a 'library management system' or 'automated library system' - and a guide to cataloguing your library collection
