Try some searching with Zuula

By Debbie

With one search Zuula provides you with easy access to the results of several major search engines.

Sounds like a “meta” search engine?  Well not quite!

Zuula allows you to browse through your search results from top search engines individually – using a tabbed display – while a meta search engine combines the results from different engines into a single page. Rather than just guessing which search engine will give you the best results, Zuula allows you to see the results from a preferred search engine, and then by simply clicking on another tab, quickly and easily check the results of other search engines.

Currently Zuula allows searching for web pages, images, video, news, tags, blogs and jobs.

Zuula is customisable so you can set preferences for which search engines are included, and the order in which they are displayed.

An advanced search option allows users to improve their searching by:

  • Including or excluding specific words or phrases
  • Limiting results based on the last time a page was updated
  • Limiting results to specific sites or domains

Zuula automatically applies these filters across all engines searched.

A bonus for students is that Zuula clearly separates sponsored links (advertisements) from the rest of the search results and includes a “safe search” option to filter out adult content.

Try some searching with Zuula and decide whether to add this to your list of favourite search tools.
