We want to help create motivated and engaged young readers. This blog is about children's and YA literature (especially New Zealand), literacy research, and ways to get, and keep, kids reading.
This book was an old favourite of mine when I was a growing up so you imagine the delighted squeal I made when I saw it on the new books trolley. Reading this book took me back to my childhood and the time I first borrowed it from the local Public Library, then devoured it in my favourite reading corner (on top of my bed).
When this series of books appeared over fifty years ago, thousands of readers fell for the adventurous, mystery-loving Trixie and her friends. Now the series is in print again, and Trixie is capturing the hearts of a new generation of fans.
“I have hidden the necklace….” After she reads these tantalising words in an old letter, nothing will stop Trixie from searching Rosewood Hall, the plantation house where the letter came from. Trixie thinks the emerald necklace is buried in a secret passageway there. But after a century, Rosewood Hall is in ruins. Will the curse of the emeralds keep Trixie from finding the missing necklace? “
