We want to help create motivated and engaged young readers. This blog is about children's and YA literature (especially New Zealand), literacy research, and ways to get, and keep, kids reading.
This great little book is one of the MacMillan Young Library series on values. Aimed at junior children, it gives concrete examples of ways in which you can do your best. These include being prepared; being organised; pacing yourself; persevering; practising and behaving well.
The text is clear and concise. The accompanying photographs include children of many races and both genders, e.g. there is a picture of a boy persevering at his knitting. There are also pictures of work, play, sport and music.
All in all, a superb wee text that will prove ideal for use in junior classrooms.
