Services to Schools was developed over 60 years ago to ensure access to books for all schools in New Zealand. Over the years it has strengthened networks, developed partnerships and national programmes, and worked with the library and education sector to support literacy initiatives and school library transformation.
Services to Schools programmes and services aim to:
- create engaged and motivated readers through reading for pleasure
- develop skilled users and creators of information
- connect young people to their culture and heritage
- develop library and information services.
Our services to educators include Curriculum Services, which lend over 1.5 million resources to support teaching programmes. Advisory Services offers advice on all aspects of school library development and management. It also delivers professional development and targeted programmes supporting literacy and learning.
